Current State
Have you compiled all of your current assets and artifacts and worked out where the possible gaps might be?

Armed with your current state documentation have you run workshops to align your team with the objectives of your project? Have you defined the problem statement?
Customer Research
Speaking to your customers and understanding their behavioural motivations is an important step in a customer centric design approach. Have you completed qualitative and quantitative customer research?
Assumption Busting
Are your team aware of the problems facing your customers and have the initial assumptions been questioned?
Possible Solutions
Have you got your team together to unpack the customer research and discussed how this will affect the project? There may be many possible solutions at this stage of the process.
Refine the Solution
From the many ideas there will be one that resonates most with the team and is supported by the customer research. The data will inform the design of the product or service that you have agreed on. Have you run workshops to refine the solution that will deliver the greatest benefit?
Build a Prototype
A prototype does not necessarily need to be a digital clickable prototype. It can be sketches or concepts that represent what the product or service will look like. Have you planned the prototype so that it can be visualised and tested?
Validate the Concepts
The customer is at the centre of everything we do so now it is time to test the prototype and validate our thinking. Have you tested the prototype with your customers?
Iterate the Design
Your customers will provide you with valuable feedback on your solution. At this stage it is about the functionality which is why a basic prototype is better than a fully fledged prototype which can add distractions. Have your team modified the design to meet the customers expectations?
Create the Product or Solution
Have you created the product or solution using all of the previous 9 steps?
